Our Story

That philosophy began with Brad Billings, who founded American Office in the early 2000s. Starting with a single truck and one employee, Brad built a reputation installing office furniture, cubicles, auditorium seating, and fixed tables. Through hard work, reliability, and an unwavering commitment to doing the job right, the company earned the trust of general contractors, manufacturers, and project managers across the country.
As every project was completed, new opportunities followed. Years of experience working on educational facilities, stadiums, arenas, performing arts centers, and public venues allowed the company to expand its capabilities while maintaining the same commitment to quality workmanship and dependable service.
As the company evolved, so did its vision. Covel Contracting was established to focus exclusively on fixed seating, retractable bleachers, and specialized installation services, allowing the team to better serve clients nationwide with dedicated expertise.

The Legacy Behind Our Name
Every company has a name. Ours carries a legacy.
The name Covel has been part of our family for generations, long before it became the name of our company. It represents hard work, perseverance, innovation, and a commitment to leaving something better for the next generation.
Our story begins with Caleb Covel, whose life became intertwined with the early history of the Cherokee Nation in what is now northeastern Oklahoma. According to the published history of Northeastern State University, Caleb owned the property that would later become the site of Seminary Hall, one of Oklahoma's most historic educational landmarks. The university's history notes that the Covel family cabin still stood on the property when construction of Seminary Hall began in 1887.
The Covel name represents generations of determination, integrity, and leadership. Those values continue to influence the way we approach every project, every partnership, and every opportunity to serve our clients.
